Brought a resin kit of a pneumatic bulk tank trailer to be used at a transmodal facility on the layout. The casting was nicely done but had some flash which wasn't much of a problem to remove. The kit is made to fit an Athearn 40' container chassis which you have to supply.
After washing the parts assembled most of the kit with a two part expoxy, rewashed and gave it a light primer coat. Going to have to wait a bit on finishing the painting even after several hours the paint is still tacky.
Go to the 1/87 Vehicle Club at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.1-87vehicles.org">http://www.1-87vehicles.org</a><!-- m -->, click on new products, then click on Jan 2010, there's an email address for price info. The kit with shipping from Canada is a bit pricey but it's a model of a bulk tanker that you see quite regularly that is not made.
Thats really cool! i've been looking for a truck model like that, but i never knew anyone sold them. I to wanted to model a bulk transfer facility, and this is perfect.
How much was the kit?I just e-mailed Andre' and am waiting on a response from him,I also came across this bulk trailer from DecalPrint <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.1-87vehicles.org/Archives/decalprint_pneumatic_bulk_trailer.php">http://www.1-87vehicles.org/Archives/de ... railer.php</a><!-- m --> This also looks to be promising.I need about 4 of them.I can see these painted with some crome paint. ...unfortunately this kit will be priced at $89.95(for a kit?)
here's another Company that produces various other styles of Dry Bulk containers, along with some other cool stuff

I have the same kit but another member started a new thread about the same topic <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://bigbluetrains.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=7685">viewtopic.php?f=44&t=7685</a><!-- l --> the kits he posted will come out to be cheaper than the ones mentioned above especially without the shipping from canada unless you live in canada
When ordering, there are 3 different finishes that you can get them in.I chose the mid-grade one, still smooth, and not grainy like the first choice(cheapest).I had to pay a little more for the model, but it will be less prep before i paint them.
Very nice results Bruce! It's amazing to me that no one has produced models of these bulk trailers. You know they'd sell like crazy. Athearn/Atlas/Walthers are you listening?
Ed and Ralph thanks for the comments, they are appreciated. Ed I believe that the reason for not being done in plastic is the cost of making the dies. When you look over different modeling forums there seems to be someone always mentioning the lack of a plastic pneumatic bulk tank trailer like this.
