Question about yard tracks
#31
I tried using a brown Sharpie pen on the sides of the rails. This went on easily, but the brown came out closer to the shade of fresh rust. I went back to a small paintbrush and craft store cheap acrylics -- the old favourites of raw and burnt sienna and umber. Plus some odd shades of grey and gray.
After painting, a scrape along the top of the rails with something stiff but soft -- pine cuts, cork, track eraser.

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.
