Money always talks. Nothing new there, and Google has pretty much always operated like that. I tried the new Bing service and it popped up the listing a lot faster than Google.

Funny, but I can't find any mention of the alleged big fight on the other forum.

Business as usual, and the usual scaremongers. I just checked, and the sky is not falling.

I flew over this morning, their ground to air terminal homers were locked on, but they didn't launch! I did do the flyover "at altitude", but nearest friendly land was distant, to sat the least.
Eventually, things will settle down. I think they met more resistance ( 790_smiley_picking_a_fight 24 ) than they expected.

I finally was bored enough to go over to Z and see what was up. My mistake. Glad I am gone. The bookmark for Z will be deleted shortly.

So you will ignore fine modeling by the logging guys and others because of one or two nasty individuals?

Nothing comparable is being posted here.

Just to clarify that post, it wasn't in response to 88's, but to one from a card guy that had registered anonymously just to harass. I don't approve of the way Sanjay handled it, but I don't condone what the guy did and said either. Sanjay had deleted the other posts, but left 88's post so it looked as if he was responding to him. Under our old rules, Sanjay would have gotten an infraction for what he said, and the other guy would have been banned. He did tell 88 the way it really was, but, sheesh, if the card guys want to move on, let them do it the way we did, peacefully and without purposely trying to destroy and disrupt things. We all have a lot of good things over there and we want to see Zealot make a go of it so that they don't just shut down and we lose our precious pictures, the Academy, those great tutorials and other irreplaceable threads that we have collected there over an eight-year period.

It is not one or two nasty individuals. It seems to be the policy of the whole place that feels hostile to me. And I suspect if I search around I will find that those logging folks are posting elsewhere, someplace less restrictive.

I should reiterate,"I notice that z is attracting some new international members. This used to be one of our biggest features, that we were so diverse in our membership. "

I think that really new membership is quite likely to be the result of a web search. "Word-of-mouth" can only have a limited spread.

If you try this search, you will see that other fora (?) such as Atlas, trains.com, etc. come right to the top.

Zealot is attracting new members who would be a lot better off here, if they could find us. I really don't see that the spammers or other undesireable respondents pose that much of a threat relative to the potential for gaining new diverse membership. This is my opinion. If we are making a policy decision to remain more insular, then I guess my request to try to get us back to the top is denied! I am sure that I can live with the majority decision.

I just ask us to recall the old Gauge!

No, they aren't...and that is the whole point. Nor is the forum inhabited by evil aliens or something. And if you look, you will notice that this forum isn't very lively, either.

On the other hand. maybe it is better if you don't go there... Nope

I just made a visit there, and checking the new posts I find very few related to railroading, or modeling. Granted, they have a lot of new members, but IMHO a small forum with good people far outweighs a large forum that is hard to control. I feel that the best are right here, and with time this forum will grow.
I see no problem with belonging to many forums if you have the time. If you have knowledge you should share it, and if you are a beginner you need to diversify to get the best of every world.
I have made many friends here that were also on Z. I'm also sure many would migrate if they knew about us. Given time the search engines will pick us up.
