Blue Box Tribute Photo Thread
#16
I have and will still have loads of fun building and rebuilding Athearn kits.
The last 2 photos aren't blue box, but are what they evolved from.

I bought this Athearn SD-9 as a birthday present to me when I turned 35 in 1980.It ran on the Meyers Hobby House layout long enough to go through 2 motors and 5 trucks before they closed their doors .It has been a ongoing HO project ever since 1997 hence the road number you see.

I misplaced the handrails for the ol gal years ago and was planning on scratching new ones for her then the other day I was chasing GP38-2 parts on the Horizon site and all of a sudden there was a set for the SD-9 listed.Needless to say the project got a instant boost. Smile She still needs lights # boards and couplers but they will get done.Oh and windows too.

I have many more Blue Box but this ol gal is the only one posted online. I can't access the others because they are on my computer but I'm not. Sad
