As time draws near for our daughter to be brought into the world i know my time is going to be tied between my job and my family life. So in short going down to the basement to do any layout work is just about done for a while. I asked the wife if a n scale layout would be ok and she agreed as long as there was steam locos. I chewed on that for a day and sugested a freelanced layout and brings to life the M&J railway. Heres what ive gotten done in the last 2 days, any questions comments are welcomed.

Only one, run some trains before you scenic. Make sure the trackwork is good, while you can still tear it up and fix it.
We always learn far more from our own mistakes, than we will ever learn from another's advice.
The greatest place to live life, is on the sharp leading edge of a learning curve.
Lead me not into temptation.....I can find it myself!
Good idea as i have ran a 4-8-2 with 2 coaches behind her but must keep that in mind as i progress. Yes that is n scale that you see there MM

I like the blue foam you use in the US so often on top of the bench work. It makes it so easy to have some very flexible elevation. Building a small underpass is done in three minutes with a sharp knife. I like it how you use the foam to have some interesting elevations on the layout.
May be I do the bench work of my next layout 2-3" lower and put blue foam on top. I will have to learn how to fasten flexible track temporary for test drive on the foam until glue and ballast will be done some weeks later. And I have to learn how to mount the switch machines and have easy access for service within the foam mountains. But that will be the next layout...
To start the new year im building my own trestle bents, once i get a few done ill post pics.

No i havnt left this railroad just the loss of my computer holds me back so i use the computer at work during my break. I have done quite a bit of work on it ran a few trains started sceanery. So no pics to pass along for now, on the other hand im working on a story to make the railroad seam as if it was really ment to be as a type of bridge line. So far i have decided between the Lehigh Valley and Erie railroads for it to take place. Now to work on a story line and pitch it out here and get some responses.
