I take care of the width issue with the roadbed by gluing it down first, then take a nice rough sandpaper glued to a block and do away with the sharp edge and leave a more scale-like look to it.
You're rockin' right along with the layout....Looking forward to more progress shots... Thumbsup

Finished the Walthers Butterfly Platforms yesterday. A pretty simply kit to assemble. The base is painted Floquil Concrete, support beams are Floquil Roof Brown, and the roof is Floquil Rail Brown. I actually wanted to paint the roof Roof Brown as well, but ran out of paint.

When I originally put up my lighting the garage, I simply velcro'd the lights in the garage door tracks. It worked great Though, with spring and the mowing season approaching I see that idea being a pain in the rear every time I need to open the door. So today I did a little rearranging.

The main issue I had to deal with was how to mount the lights in the garage with minimal damage to the walls (it's a leased house). I settled on a really simple idea using Hercule Hooks and Loop Velcro straps.

Two hooks and straps per fixture (for each end), and I just use the plastic loop on the velcro strap to hang on the hook holding up the lights. Simply but effective.

And a look at the switch (on the left wall in the above picture) that controls the lights.

Finished up installed the concrete tie flex track on the Marigny side of the layout. Just need to trim the roadbed to sloped down at the edges of the ties. I did the branch line already as shown.

My next item on the to-do list was to install the first curved turnout, but it seems the .025" wire that comes with the Tortoise is to flimsy to move the throwbar and rails (probably because the point rails are single pieces rather than jointed).

So I ordered some .032" to try. I just hope I can get a .032" hole in the throwbar without comprising its strength (or simply splitting it in half).

Nice progress. That concrete tie track looks really nice! Good luck with the switch.
