looking for any info or photos on the Milwaukee road floating swing bridge betwwen Marquette Iowa and Prairie du Chien Wisconsin built in 1874 retired in 1961.

Jim, there's information on this bridge on the Trains Forum. The poster has numbered the bridges from north to south - simply scroll down the page to #33. Evidently, Marquette was previously known as North McGregor, so you might want to use that name in any search, too. The bridge was also featured in the January 1952 issue of trains.

The Milwaukee Road Historical Association's magazine had an article on Marquette and the bridge but I forget which issue. Their website has an index of available back issues that might help.

thanks again doc , i havent had a lot of time to google it , but i did find a copy of the trains mag. reasonable. i have a river to cross on layout was leaning toward a double leaf bascule, but found a photo and a bit of info on this bridge and thought it would be a more interesting structure instead of the bascule one.
