Hi All,

The rocks have been lightly drybrushed now ..... the results are better than the pictures show, various grades of talus/sand/weeds from Woodland scenics now in place to form the bottom of the pool, the white hue is drying PVA to fix everything in place before the water/water effects, speaking of which the parcel containing it arrived today Smile
The rock where the waterfall is to be needs washes/drybrushing and some thought as to how greenery will be around the area.

Hi All,

The finishing of the waterfall is still delaying final fitting of the bridge and mine , though i have settled them in to see how they all look and made a start on some scenics around the area leaving around the bridge for the moment ...... a pour of the realistic water proved as i suspected it would soak in to the talus in the pool bed i left it to dry out thoroughly a few days and poured a second thin layer yesterday no more than an 1/8 of an inch at a time is needed to be poured or recomended.

The mine building has been reduced to two tracks to fit in the scene evergreen sheeting used to match the cladding on the main walls.

If i am to cover the talus in the pool around three more pours should be suffice ...... the waterfall itself uses the water effects and trial runs of it in small sections seems successful so far ...... the waterfall itself uses the water effects and trial runs of it in small sections seems successful so far, the waterfall area needs more blending before this is applied.

Hi All,

Morganth has been neglected somewhat of late so here are some pics i took of work this week so far ......... the waterfall i have had thoughts about to build up the rock at the top of it having water come out of an opening in the rock rather than as it is ...... need to give that some more thought though.

The bridge has been ready to place on the layout for sometime and finally after some weathering of the wood deck and its structure i placed it in needs the crossbraces when i am happy with the rail colour it looks to ''red'' rust ...... any ideas for a good rust colour for the the rails would be welcome.

For any derailments/problems on the bridge it may be wise to leave the braces loose.

A mix of WS scenics gives some colour to the layout fairly lush with the presence of moisture from the water.

From another angle the track ballasted with two colours ( Curse camera & lighting doesnt show it well)

Overall shot most of this scene is hidden by the mine ....... visible is the hole for the mines lighting

Hey Nick,

Was beginning to wonder what happend to this layout LOL

Progress is looking good, nice weathering job on that truss bridge too Thumbsup Thumbsup It should look sweet when the top cross-braces are in place Misngth

As for color of the rails, Floquil Rail Brown or Roof Brown is what ive heard works well for rails. I think there is another color too, but i dont member off the top of my head lol

Yes Josh i wondered about the layout Icon_lol try and get some Floquil paint like all good stuff isnt available over here though Curse i used Bragdons light rust on therev on a still tacky matt varnish try it on dried matt varnish on a scrap piece of track as well the layouts i have seen have the inside rails painted as well and i dont want to mess up the DCC signal for contact does painting the inside rail effect it badly anyone ?

I think because in your earlier pictures, you had a higher camera angle, I did not realize the size of your scene until these last two pictures taken down lower with a train in them for scale (how's that for a run on?). Suddenly those cliffs look a lot taller than they did before. Nice job. Have you blackwashed them yet? It might pop some of the details. You could also hit the highlights with some white... be careful because a little bit goes a long ways. Then, glue some more bushes in the cracks here and there like you did in the foreground and that will really help to add some detail. Unless of course you think they look perfect and in that case, don't change a thing! Thumbsup 357

Hmmm, upon going back and looking at some of your earlier pictures, it appears you have blackwashed already. Nice job... I guess it all depends on the camera angle and lighting of each picture.

Hi TrainNut ,

Yes i have blackwashed the rocks some scenics in the cracks would add some interest i agree ...... something i'm looking at ...... the lighting here is awful as the layout is at the back of the room and most i take under artificial light best time to take pics here is in the early evening when the sun comes round hoping for some good pics when the summer takes off Icon_lol

My other HO layout is on the window wall and pics there will be better.

Thanks for your input gives me some good ideas Thumbsup off to do more on there Big Grin
