CSX Palmetto Spur
The layout is really looking good. One great thing about this forum is it gives the rest of us ideas and goals to shoot for. Thanks for sharing. Thumbsup

That is certainly one of the layouts I do use heavily for inspiration. The composition of details is fantastic. The newly applied grass looks very good. You make me thinking to get my Grasmaster out of the cabinet too.

It's funny how emulation take place here! I'm pretty sure you could manage to make a genealogic tree of many switching layouts here!

Thanks guys, your comments are much valued and appreciated.

I,too, find lots of inspiration from the 'modern era' ISL layouts here on Big Blue. Although most of the layouts are much larger than Palmetto, there is

plenty of excellent modelling and ideas which can provide inspiration for even the smallest of layouts.

Mal,

If you don't mind me asking, what type of photo editing software are you using with your camera to get the super-imposed blue sky in your photos? I am looking for something without a tall learning curve.

Thank you,

Larry

Hi Larry,

I take the pics, then my brother adds the skies/backgrounds using Photoshop.

I just purchased a used copy of Corel Paint Shop Pro X from Amazon. Lance Mindheim uses Paint Shop Pro X for most of his editing and from what I have read, the later versions are not that good.

I'm using PaintShopPro X4 - Not sure why anyone would think it isn't that good? Works fine for me!

Mal,
Again, excellent layout and photos! Thumbsup

Photo software: I use Photoshop Elements 8. I have used PSE since v3. Still love it!

Shortliner,

I was just bouncing around the chat forums concerning PSP and the later versions and it appears from the feedback that the later versions were not as popular.

I suspect that it probably has to do with it being taken over by Corel rather than the original development team - it does seem that less "developmental" changes seem to appear with each new release - the version I liked best was PSPX2, but it still seems okay to me
- I have both versions on the computer. It probably is a "look and feel" thing - rather like XTrkCad - I still use the original version of that - simply because later versions changed where vaious menu items were located and I'm so used to the version I started with that I don't have to hunt around to find them!

Hi,

A new loco for Palmetto has been long overdue. After reading Chris G's thread CTU Alaska Spur where he received very speedy service from Trainworld of Brooklyn, NY, I thought it was time to make my first purchase direct from the US. Browsing Trainworld's website I found a very nice Atlas Gold CSX U30B in one of the old paint schemes. An order was placed last Tuesday and the parcel arrived on Friday. Excellent service from Trainworld and UPS.

Although a tad early for my 'present day' layout, I thought I could simply go back to the early nineties, after all, only one loco appears on the layout at any one time.

Here's a few pics
