Seriousy!?! The "Bank Account Department"?!!? A google spreadsheet? Why the heck would any large corporate bank use a google spreadsheet to update their records!
If we had a die laughing smilies I'd use it instead. These jokers must be getting desperate.
On the other hand, please make sure you and yours do not fall victim to these criminals.

I can't believe Google hasn't taken this down, I just filled in all the fields, and they said they would update my account for me. (Of course I used fake information).

I get a horde of similar mails - from the "Head" of the FBI who wants to make sure my account is not compromised, to so-called "ambassadors" from a pile of African countries, to supposed GI's who found a cache of $$'s and need a bank account to deposit them.....
And, yes, there are suckers who fall for them....

ANyone else getting these? Yep, I've got a lot of packages that are not going to be delivered as well since I failed to respond in time. I'm sure I'll be getting a phone call from one of these carriers to come down and help clear out their warehouse of these packages that are piling up.
I've had "stops" put on my accounts at banks that I don't have accounts with because I failed to respond to some of these emails. Perhaps I should give out these bank account numbers to that poor dying widow or that bank manager that wants to transfer some mega-millions to my account. And I'm still wondering how I managed to have my credit card at a bank I never heard of, frozen because of "questionable activity" that I failed to follow up on.
And yes, if they send out ten million of these in one day and get a 0.000001% response, that's a good days work. I'm not sure, but I think that works out to about ten people.

Unfortunately we get these sort of emails DownUnder as well.
Various Australian 'banks' send me emails telling me to update my details via a link. Even my own bank has been troubled by such activities as I carefully noted when logging in. Often a very easy telltale giveaway is their poor language and grammar skills, thank goodness.
I do wish that these knuckle heads would do something constructive with there computers and their skills.
On a similar vein I was 'chatting' to a 'woman' on a dating site who claimed in her profile to live in another part of Melbourne and her 'story' was quite a spin.
She claimed that she was working on an executive contract in Europe which had finished and she was paid by cheque and somehow [this was a few years ago so the details are foggy] had got stuck in another city and her credit card was maxed out and needed help to buy a ticket for a flight home.
Now if she was such a 'high powered executive' then how come she had managed to mismanaged things to such a degree that she was requiring the help of a stranger via the internet?
She always seemed to have an answer or a reason why she was in her predicament, but I kept questioning her and when I asked some more pertinent questions about where in Melbourne she was from she became quite defensive.
What, dont you trust me? Yada, yada, yada, till finally she broke off.
I knew she was a spammer and given I was a free agent at the time, I figured that if I occupied her time, it would mean that there was less time for her to be working on some poor sap.
I reported the details of her account to the operators of the website and hopefully they shut her down.
Unfortunately these types prey on the lonely and isolated and do find them.

Well, I just now got this notice from the "Treasury Dept." telling me that my tax return couldn't be processed and my account is locked until I do what they ask. (yeah like I'm about to open a hidden .exe inside the .zip), and mail it off with a bunch of this other info including a copy of my federal or state ID.
The problem, thanks to those cheapskates in Washington that raise their own salaries every year by thousands, but keep us retirees down to between zero and just a few bucks, I haven't made enough in the past ten years to require my filing a tax return.
Note the two misspelled words in the first line. and the run-together words in the second line.
Quote:We recived your tax return. However, we are unable to process the return as field.
Our records indicate that the person identifiedas the primary taxpayer or spouse on the tax return did not provided all the required documents shown on the tax form. Our records are based on information received from the Social Security Administration.
Based on this information, the tax account for the individual has been locked
What you need to do Print out the attached notification and list of missing documents, fill it in, add the documents and send the following information to the adress shown in the attached notification.
List of required documents:
1. A copy of this letter
2. Notification letter
3. A photocopy of valid U.S. Federal or State Government issued identification.
Keep this notice for your records. If you need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us
