We have whittled the suggested names down to a manageable number. If you suggested name didn't make the cut, please don't take it personal, there were almost fifty suggested names and we were shooting for about a fifth of that to present for your voting pleasure. You might ask how me made the selections that we did, well, I'm not sure either. We first used the method that is common in the medical field and combined it with several other ones used by mathematicians and politicians and Wall Street wizzards. What we wound up with was a double-blind, random sample, average-calculated, bell curved, reverse-pyramid, middle-weighted best guess. Yes, that's how we reduced the list to the eleven that we have on the list. :? No questions please.
You can vote for one and only one. In fifteen days, we will present the results to the "Bored" of Directors :o (yes, they are indeed bored) of the proposed railway for their final consideration.

Uh, all kidding aside, we did put quite a bit of effort into our decision, there were a number of suggestions that were very close to each other, some that were a bit off the target for our intended railroad, and some that were submitted in jest. Oh, we did keep one of those, just for fun.
Anyway, we do appreciate all those that did submit names, and we thank all of you for your interest in this project.

We did run the list by Howie, Sharon and Pierce, but Howie wouldn't touch it... (yeah, there is a joke there)

I'm inclined away from names which suggest that the rail network is "global", unless the railroad in question owns all aspects of the transport system up to and including the railway networks at foreign destinations. That being the case, I voted for one of those names remaining.

Seeing as how it is fictitious to begin with, we have no binding caveats as to how it is organized, single , joint, multiple, or JTWROS, ownership. The main thing to remember is that this is a hobby, not a business.
That being said, I'm glad you voted for what you think you'd like best to see this railroad named, I hope everyone here takes the time to do so.

Every once in a while I get this paycheck in the mail for some construction job that I never knew about. On the stub it says, "no show", and it's signed, "Mayor D," and "good luck cuz"... Dunno, I'm kinda afraid to cash them though..

I stand corrected. In any event I like the Greenwich and Meridian for it's elegance while containing the required elements of your philosophy.
