Bachmann's Geep
Here's a Bachmann CN GP9 with some added details and weathering:     I added A-Line sunshades and a Details West winterization hatch. I also had some old Juneco spark arrestors on hand and added those, too. I still need to add the nose bell, a radio antenna, and rerail frogs. I have a feeling that these locos didn't get all these details when they were still in the 1700 numbers, but what the heck. I had a very, very hard time trying to duplicate the Bachmann shade of CN green and finally threw up my hands and used Floquil Pullman Green, which I blended in with weathering. The whole thing doesn't look too bad, and the price and availability beat Athearn RTR and Atlas Classic.

Nice job JWB! Mine is still waiting to be redetailed like yours. Bachmann CN green is so... wrong... but still, you can't beat the price.

II've seen that Bachmann's going to release the same engine with a different road number (1725), which makes it a GP9.

CN Lines covers quickly the CNR GP7 1700s. According to the GMD builder's picture, they had the winter hatch, large front headlight but lacked the sunshades and sparks arrestors (among many other things). It's interesting also because the second batch of 1700s didn't had dynamic brakes (1720-21-22-23), a easy conversion with the Bachmann snap on brake. I'm curious if they had sunshades during their 1700s days, but that part isn't covered.
