Micro-Trains Civil War Cars

Here's something to watch for:

Micro-Trains says they'll have "Civil War era" rolling stock available later in the year complete with link-and-pin couplers. This makes "old west" modeling a little more appealing...

Link and pin in N scale? If I was building a "runner's" layout that would be alright I guess but not for real operations. My eyes, even with glasses are not that good. Eek Nope

Just be sure to check your operating groups hands-if they have missing fingers then they are a experience crew. :o

In HO I used to make Link'n'Pins out of Kadees. Take out the operating wire and drop in a nail. A use for the ones with broken Knuckles.
Make your own link -- tutorial available on request. Icon_lol

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.

Noticed that the Micro-Trains ad for these neat looking little cars says: "representative Link-and-Pin style couplers", so I gather they won't be attempting to use actual (semi) scale links and pins. Will be interesting to see what these "representative" couplers will look like and how they will function. I know from my past days of modeling logging operations in both HO and Fn3 scale, the use of actual links and pins can really test your patience - eye sight - nerves! Better have plenty of spare links and especially pins on hand.
