The Mogollon Railroad
Hey Kevin!

Glad to see things are looking up. Great job on the layout and getting that facia up. The facia really gives it a "finished" look. Thumbsup

I don't think I have posted a photo lately looking towards the other end of the layout. I've put together some cardboard mockups of the smelter buildings, and played around with how to arrange things. As you can see, I still have a few more rails to lay, and some topography to build up.

The first few days of my new job have been busy, but that makes coming home and working on the layout all the more rewarding. I stopped by the home center and forked over 5.50 for the last piece of blue foam I need to finish my terrain. Within short order, I'll have my hills finished.

Kevin, how big a piece of foam did you get for $5.50? And what kind of glue do you normally use?

It's 2' x 8' x 1". I've used liquid nails for glue before, stuff specifically listed for foam. But this time, I am using gorilla glue. Some of the liquid nails actually attacked the foam, and did not glue very strong.

$5.50 for that much foam isn't too bad. On the glue, I've had good luck with the new version of LocTite PL300. Takes awhile to dry, but easy to work with and holds good, even when wet.

Kevin, you've probably mentioned before, but what kind of "white stuff" are you using to smooth the foam?

At the request of Gary, here is a progress photo of a bunch of plaster rocks, nearly ready to paint.
