...the horse , that is . I'm not a big horse racing fan ...usually the Derby , Preakness and Belmont , and this years big winnah , Ill Have Another , is owned by a guy from this city ! He may be someone who moved out at a young age .....grew up 10 blocks from me but I've never known him ......but the whole town is abuzz in our "15 minutes of fame
. Well , maybe not 15 minutes but a few weeks anyhow . It's fun to watch the underdog come from behind .
Don't know if there are 3 races in the horse but we'll see in a few weeks .....Secretariat is the best I've ever seen over the years .

Well , it's all over but the shouting .....maybe just as well . The horse is injured , the trainer has numerous charges against him in the past ( alleged cheating ) and the owner , from my hometown , got his $$$ from that " bastion of business honesty " , the high interest mortgage business in California . Maybe the horse should lobby for a new owner !?

I'm not a fan of horse racing, but do keep an eye on the Triple Crown....Sad to see we won't have a winner this year....

Yeah, I guess we won't have another this year. A shame, I'm not a race fan either. I've never been at a racetrack or never have placed a bet on a race, but I still hate to see something like this happen. All sports are a physical strain on the participants, even horses. Nowadays, we have football players that are suing the league for their injuries, I wonder what a horse can do? Hmm, going out to stud may not be such a bad compensation after all.

Since I found out the statistics on the number of horses who either drop dead or suffer injuries requiring them being put to death in this sport, I stopped having any interest in it all.

I see your point but based on that then we should probably outlaw all human sports as thousands are cripploed or die every year. Myself I'm not that big of a sports fan anymore but it's due more to the greed and the cheating then worrying about the health of the athletes as they know (unlike the horses) what they are getting into.
