I don't get very excited over Amtrak but I caught this one 6 years ago. it was "Station to Station" what ever that was.          Charlie
Wow, that's some train!  The CNR bought some of those full length domes and the ex-Hiawatha tail-end cars, too, but Transport Canada later outlawed the latter cars due to the lack of a suitable emergency exit.

CN also introduced cars like this...

....in the late '50s to support their Car-Go-Rail plan, which allowed passengers on long-distance trains to take their automobiles with them.  They came in both the 75' version shown (a modified Bachmann car) or as 57'-ers.  Many of these cars were later sold to Auto-Train.
Oddly, when creating this post, I could find no direct on-line reference to CN's Car-Go-Rail programme, although I did get a hit for "Did you mean Cargo-Rail?", with absolutely no information.
