As part of our 5th Anniversary Celebration, we are going to highlight some of our member's railroads. To start this thread off, we have the following major merger announcement:

The Atlantic-Pacific Railroad has been merged with the Illinois Lines.

In addition to what ngauger found:

We also have just been notified that The Fort Orlando RR has joined with the Outland Line-Southern

Added to that, the Jackson-Okefenokee RR has acquired all trackage and shares of stock of the Kentucky Express

And much to our dismay, we have just been notified that:

The Georgia-Overland Transport has just comitted a hostile takeover of the Cairo-Hampton-Atlanta RR

There's something really, really strange going on here with all these mergers and acquisitions. hock:

Pennsylvania-Reading secretly acquired the Apalachicola Northern & Kansas, but have yet to even tell the stockholders.

There have also been rumors of a hostile take-over by UP of one of the last surviving short lines in the Southwest: the Las Cruces & Portales RR...
