Things that go""meow" in the night...
#1
...and you don't even have a cat.
The other eveniing my beautiful wife and I were in our cellar, taking pictures of the deplorable condition of things down there. We noticed a quite large hole just below the foundation, where some pipes had been run through for the water.
I was leaniing over the half-wall to get a better look at it when I saw two big yellow kitty eyes looking back at me! Just a matter of maybe a foot away! Then a black kitty face appeared, along with a friendly "meow."
Well, long story short, we now have a black cat with medium length fur, and a very small patch of white fur on her chest. She is getting used to being around people, and last night she even jumped up on my lap! I have been able to hold her on my shoulder, and pet her since the second day after we found her. I really love cats! And dogs, and squirells and racoons, and skunks and.... Tongue

What a great story, it makes me miss my kitty that i had my whole life growing up. my cat was older then me when she died (in human years and cat years lol). My parents got her when she was just a kitten, then i was born 2 years after. She passed away when i was 17 so that makes her 19 years old in people years.

Good to hear you got a little kitty, she sounds like a pretty cute one Misngth

I think the eyes would have scared the crap outta me. Nice to hear you got a new addition to the family.
One day our kids came home with a kitten, I put him in the palm of my hand and there was still room for a couple more, he was just born within the day, a boy was standing outside of the confectionary store and asked the kids if they wanted to trade a quart of milk for the kitten ( he had a couple more as well) of course the kids couldn't resist and guess whos my best buddy now , he follows me all over the place.

I have two and a half cats, one is a HUGE cat that I adopted from the animal shelter my sister used to volunteer in. She talked me into it. What she didn't tell me until I paid the money and brought him home is that Alonzo is retarded. Funniest animal I have ever been around, he's a riot. Just does some insanely crazy stuff. Great cat. We call him "Lardo" (he doesn't even answer to Alonzo anymore), he's massive. Rusty is our baby though, I've had him since he was a tiny kitten and now he's almost 14. Great cat. He's my shadow, in fact, he's curled up next to me right now while Lardo is passed out on his back with his legs up in the air on the ottoman for the couch.

I've never been much of a "dog" person, but wouldn't trade my cats for the world.

Here, they have taken over a blanket I picked up in Ensenada last time I went to Mexico.

Rusty claimed one of my work hats and drags it around the house with him and sleeps with it sometimes:

I hate to break it to you, but it sounds like Alonzo is, in fact, a dog... 35 Wink Big Grin Icon_lol

Actually.... Rusty is the one that thinks he is a dog sometimes. He acts like one. Alicia and I joke that he's the dog we always wanted. He used to fetch (before that got tiresome to him), he used to roll over and let you scratch his belly, and guards the house. He does tricks for treats and is as loyal as any dog I have ever seen. Lardo just eats like a dog. And when you clean his litter box, you'd think he was a BIG dog. 35

We call Alonzo "Lardo", but I call Rusty "Buddy". He goes everywhere with me when I am home and follows me around, just like a dog. Alicia just came home for lunch and she's brushing him right now. He's lovin' it. As soon as she goes back to work, he'll be curled up at my feet again.

Great story and nice pictures. Oh boy, you really make me miss our cat. She died last September after we had her for more than 16 years.

Laser pointers provide endless hours of fun with Lardo. He'll chase that until he drops of exhaustion. Rusty will, but only for so long until he gets tired. Then, he lays in front of his water bowl and drinks like a camel.

Try it, next time you're at Office Depot or Staples pick up one of their little cheapy laser pointers. HILLARIOUS fun.

As soon as I can get her to hold still long enough, I'll try to get a picture of her. She is a sweet kitty. BTW, I also have two dogs. The first one is a chow-something or other mix. He's Corrigan or Cory for short. The other one is a Chihuahua-Shepherd mix. She's a sweet liitle girl. Her name is Jasmine, or Jazzy for short. Both were "rescued" dogs. I have almost always had cats, until recently.
Yes, as you may have guessed, my wife and I are critter lovers. Remind me, sometime to tell about Elmer, the raccon, and Chiqui, the squirrell.

I love squirrels. When we had our training center, Dad taught mechanical classes there and I went on the road all over the country doing on-site T&E training. We had a huge field across the parking lot that was FULL of squirrels. They crack me up. When I would go out the front door to smoke, they'd come to the edge of the parking lot, and eventually right up to me, as I'd grab a couple of fist fulls of trail mix to feed them, I used to buy it by the huge sack at Costco just for the squirrels. I called that field "Squirrel Estates". Dad would keep the front door open rather than turn on the A/C in that huge building, especially since the classroom was near the front door. When I was gone, the squirrels didn't know what to do, so, they'd start sitting by the front door waiting for me. Mom would shoo them away. One day, I was in Idaho or somewhere, class was in session, and they decided to cruise the building looking for me. Dad said he looked up from the front of the class and there were about 2 dozen squirrels standing in the door way of the classroom. The students and Dad ran them off and Dad started setting traps around the building. When I got back to the office and saw that, I got PISSED. I told Dad and the students, and I quote, "See those squirrels out there? Those are MY squirrels, every one of them. Those are my pets, I OWN that field full of squirrels, they are MINE. So, if you value your safety and well being as much as I value my squirrels, DON'T @*$% WITH THEM!!".

From there on, my mom started feeding them fistfulls of dry cat food a couple of times a day when I was gone. Goldth

The four animals that crack me up the most are my cats, squirrels, penguins and monkeys. They just never cease to bring a smile to my face. Goldth
