Will Atlas Parts fit on RTR Athearn locos?
I have 3 Athearn RTR GP38-2's that need misc. details like horns, snow plows.... wondering if i can use Atlas parts to install on Athearn locos without any problems?

At most you might have to bore the hole for the horn on the athearn.
The plow might be a different story since the coupler will have to slide into the plow hole when its on the body, but not sure since I have older blue box athearns

Details Associates and Details West do make plows and horns for EMD diesels.
They can be made to fit Athearn shells with just a couple of holes drilled, instead of trying to shoehorn some parts from another manufacturer.
They are also a bit cheaper from your LHS, than if you got them from ebay.
Just a suggestion.....

I would say yes on both counts, possibly with drilling out the mounting holes... but would prolly go with brass parts from DW or DA instead, unless you were trying to save money by buying the atlas parts in bulk...

Nick, Ed and Dave, thanks for the suggestions. Im likeing the brass idea, ill have to give DA and DW a look, i could use some more parts as well for some other locos anyways
Thanks again

Just one word of caution with brass plows. Make sure your track work is precise. If you have a dip in the track that allows the plow to touch the track you will have a short.

LOL that wouldnt be good, thanks for the word of caution Russ
I put together a short list of parts, mostly DW parts, just some generic parts i could use for most of my locos, but i dont think ill be able to order them for a little while, money's tight
