Jim   I worked for the owner of the mining company after he bought the railroad.  I could never work in a mine, heck Cliff gave us a calendar with pictures of miners underground and I couldn't even look at the photos so the calendar was hid away.  My grandfather left the UK in 1918. He was a coal miner and swore he would never enter another one.     to  say I am claustrophobic would really be an understatement. Charlie

My mother was brought up in a mining town in PA. I was very young when we went to visit my grandmother. There was a man there that never came over to talk to us, I thought it was my grandfather and it was rather strange, but later found that it was her third husband. Miners don't last long doing what they do where they do it, especially back then.
