Back in September I chased the BNSF's Bayard Subdivision east out of Council Bluffs, Iowa. This is the former Milwaukee Road mainline to Chicago, now a branch operated by BNSF six days a week. It was featured in Model Railroader years ago as a "Railroad You Can Model" back in Burlington Northern days. The day I chased it the train had three locomotives, thirty-six cars, and a caboose. It operates six days a week as a turn going east and west on subsequent days with Saturday being the day off.

Sweet Pics!! Thanks for sharing them with us
Wow! That is a cool train! And it proves my idea, model modern, because no matter how old, it is probably still running somewhere. Wink
Great pictures. Nice to see a caboose on there.

Nice Brian. I like rural railroad scenes. My favorite is the third one with all of the rolling hills and color in the background.

I gotta admit...for a second there, I thought I was looking at MODEL! Icon_lol
Thanks again for the comments! I still have a roll of film from that chase to review and scan. This is only the second half of the chase!

I started out on the Tuesday morning scouring Council Bluffs looking for my prey. With a little luck and a little help (Shhh!) I found the train tied down at Madison Avenue waiting for a crew and a track warrant. I was there just after sunrise and ended up waiting about two hours for the crew to show up and get a track warrant. I chased it northeast for the balance of the morning as far as Portsmouth where I broke off and headed over to the Union Pacific mainline around Missouri Valley for the rest of the day.
Rail,I really like that photo you took standing on the bridge.. Thumbsup Remains me of a Don Ball jr picture I saw in Trains years ago.
