I get these weeds at a very low price at a architectural model supply. I simply spray the weeds with adhesive spray and then dunk them in fine green foam. I don’t like to use these weeds as trees, because I think the trunks are too thin, but they make excellent bushes.

Gene, these brown stalks are little twigs from the weeds I use to make my bushes of as I explained it earlier on this thread. Please read the quoted passage.
Kurt...thanks...and sorry I missed the earlie comments...apolgies.

Geeez kurt where did you get the money to buy a section of a railroad????? Kidding Icon_lol but wow you really are a top noch moddler. I hope my n layout looks just as good as this here. Cheers

Hey Kurt,

How are things going? Anymore progress to report of?

Shane
Kurt, you know we hate when you take long breaks on this beautiful switching layout Misngth So get back to work man Cheers
You are right my friends, time to start working on my layout again and to revive this thread. I haven’t done any modeling since I finished the V&C Ornamental Supply (that I did for the Summer Scratchbuild Challenge: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1661) two months ago. I guess I’ll start to ballast the left extension of my layout within the next few days and then I hope that once I got started I’ll get back into full swing again.

Well Kur its getting to be that time of year for a lot of us to head into errr ummm hibernation if you want to call it that Icon_lol For me here days are getting colder and mix 102.5 is playing christmass music till 12/26 Confusedhock: Anyway cant wait to see more on this thread Thumbsup
Good to see you back..!!! Maybe watching you get to work will get me to get off my butt..!!! Goldth
Harry, I would not mind a little hibernation to get me through winter, but model railroading will have to do instead Goldth .

Gus, I hope the announcement on my thread that I will work on my layout again will help me to get off my butt ... It is funny how hard it is to get into it again after a break. Maybe I should not start with ballasting, but do what I like most: building structures. Still have about 6 feet of background buildings to do on the left side ...
Just do 5 minutes of something on the layout, a structure, anything really. It's what works for me to get the juices going again. Funny how 5 minutes turns into a half-hour, hour, etc.

Glad to see another shot of that great structure!

I know what you mean Kurt. I've only been able to manage a few nights here and there...and I would hardly call it progress. Little stumbles is more like it. The way I have been moving lately I have resigned myself to the idea that if I can at least get the majority of the track work down this winter, I'll be happy. That doesn't include the dock or the float bridge either. Nope
Galen, that is some really good advice, but unfortunately the last two months I could not even get myself to work for just 5 minutes on my layout. Two days ago I forced myself into painting and ballasting about 10 ft. of track ... what can I say? It helped. Feels like I am back in the saddle again.

Shane, wait for the winter to really get going. I guess it will boost your modeling ... at least it does for me.
Hi Kurt

I love this layout and it isnpires me to get cracking with my NW US/Canadian border project. All to often we are seduced by big trains and even bigger units (me included) and we forget that 'playing' trains is the most fun. Most of us haven't got the time or the money to do the mainline justice, least of all affording 100 car trains. Layouts like yours prove what can be done in a relatively modest space. Winter is here too (I am in Scotland) -6C this morning. Dark nights and that means time to get modelling.
Good to join the forum. this is my first post although I have been lurking and watching your progress for a few months.
If anyone is puzzled by 'Gridwatcher' as a sign in. They (Grids) are class 56 diesels delivered new to British rail from 1976 and all but extinct now. The first class i have watched from birth to death (nearly!)

Cheers
