Excellent job!
Looks like it belongs right where you got it.
Do the trains there run at night...?? If so, find me another place to spend the night on my next trip to the "underside".... Goldth
Well done! Looks great Cheers
Jack, It never ceases to amaze me how everything looks just right. I don't know how you do the magic, but you get away with mixing every thing from every era, and it looks like that is the way it should be. Wonderful, wonderful work.
Charlie
I was real curious as to how the LED's worked out as a lighting source and so was looking forward to your night shots. Unfortunately, the brightness of the street lights seems to have overexposed the pictures and it appears there are no lights... or the electric company has not come out and completed the connection yet. Any chance of showing just the building, at night, without the street lights?
TGIF in the land downunder. Cheers

Thanks 88, the buildings, they got no say in where they land in PistonBroke, I think I may shift them at a later date when others arrive.... but they usually remain, Icon_lol

Steamtrains Wrote:Do the trains there run at night...?? ....
We hardly have any trains at all running out in the country Gus, in fact they are trying to close a couple of local lines near here, that feed to the grain growing areas, because no-one wants to maintain them. Use and abuse, never mind the customer. Shoot

You would be welcome down my way any time you care. Might even get to share a frothy or two Cheers

Thanks for visiting Kanawha, and I like the compliments man.

Hey there Charlie, it amazes me that you would think so. I do mix things up because I know no other way. I see buildings of all ages, and in states of disrepair around me anyway. I'm not sure that they blend in that well, but I do just pick a build to try my luck at because I like the look of it and not because it is of some era or other. They are all American models, as I seem to like the laser cut stuff at the moment, and it is very hard to find an Aussie manufacturer, let alone an Australian building, so there are compromises everywhere. And thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment. Thumbsup

My bad.
TrainNut Wrote:......or the electric company has not come out and completed the connection yet......
The electric Co's down here run on 240v, maybe that is why the street lights are so bright, ........no??
TrainNut Wrote:...Any chance of showing just the building, at night, without the street lights?
OK Train man I hear you. The LEDs don't shine a lot, more of a dull glow, I had to use 5 because I didn't use a resistor, so the 16 volts go thru the 5 leds in series and I suppose gives each about 3 volts ( Have I got that Right ?)

Ah well, so I went back to night school and completed my second day, where they told me how to use the camera, this is the results, with different exposure levels...

Maybe overkill, but here are a heap of snaps

And the black and whites
[Image: IMG_0599.jpg]

OK a bit of overkill, but experimentation is the key. All photos were taken at night on a tripod and no flash. Hope they don't stall to many computers.

And don't worry about the double bed out on the alcove to the right ... I think the couple on the verandah ....... well you know..... and it was a hot night.
Fantastic! Thank you for taking the time to take a few more shots. I appreciate seeing the results and they truly were worth your time. The LED's have given that building a nice "glow" without making the entire building "glow" if you know what I mean.

No probs TN.

Back again to annoy after another enforced sabbatical, and so to further the saga of the PistonBroke Line....

A problem was festering... The Line had recently acquired some waterfront building plans, but as yet had been unable to convince the owner of a prized piece of harbour realestate to part company with her land, so construction could begin.

However in a surprise development a little while ago this article appeared in the PistonBroke Post .....
"The owner of the PistonBroke Line has just issued a Press release stating that the RR has purchased some more real estate, which is pictured to the left in the accompanying photo'
It doesn't look much now but with the infill project about to get underway
Part owner and chief Cook and Bottle Wash, Jack 219 enclosed this photo of the infill

He stated that in it's unimproved state the Capital value of the purchase was not great, however it has cost him
1: two "I love you's"
2:Three dishwashing sessions, Misngth
3:One window washing session Eek
4:and a cup of tea in bed, ...... 357

The previous owner of the realestate, who he would only identify as "The War Office" was.... ( after the first Tantrum) ....very reasonable he said.
When asked what the ongoing maintenance on the land would cost he could only indicate  Nope as the previous owner was still within earshot.

"Once annexed,
The land which is adjacent to this end of the RR. and will be hopefully developed into a thriving Port" he stated

Jack 219
Very effective lighting! I like the night shots very much. As for the new real estate acquisition, the price does not sound very high at all. Smile

...Thanks Ralph,

Ralph
.....Maybe that depends on how well you know the seller Misngth

So in due course the title deeds changed hands on the new piece of beachside realestate

The management sent a photographer out to survey the virgin territory.

I think that the developers would like to see a land backed wharf here somewhere
[Image: 100_2418.jpg]

And a family beach? Or get back to nature .... a nudist beach maybe?
So a bit more space at the moment, Thumbsup but there are more buildings to come so will need a large land offering, but .....as is always the case ......I will end up not having enough. Nope

Wow! This layout has really come along since I last checked it out!

Everything is looking great Jack. Keep up the good work! Thumbsup
The infill of the New Docklands area has been completed, and so I took a stroll down there today and took a photo of some activity which was happening and thought it may be of interest to some.

Just as I thought, the Kramers have another project on the go....

But I cant see much activity at the moment even tho' it's the middle of the day, maybe the Boss is chasing up his workers after a big night out at the opening of Ida's "Rest and Recreation" center in the middle of town last evening. Misngth

Heres a link to a photo from the local Rag.
Well had better go and do some snooping to see if I can uncover what they are up to.

Seeing as nobody was around, I went on site and found some plans that had fallen off the back of a truck.. ( I guess). Icon_lol
As long as it stays between friends ....

Here is a copy of what is to come
[Image: 100_2544.jpg]

There are even some building materials are on-site ready for the Boys
[Image: 100_2546.jpg]

"Not sure how good the painting contractor is that the Kramer Boys subcontract out to, but to allow the building to proceed the color scheme will need to be a little greyer than the plans, and the building needs to be a bit weathered to fit in with the historic and cultural feel of the Dock precinct." So said The Heritage Council today.
To which Kramer's Boss said Eek "We will see"

Jack 219
Those Kramers seem to get all the big jobs. Sure there not throwing a little money around? A bribe here and there? Maybe a little blackmail? 357
That building will be a great addition to your layout. Thumbsup

Oh yes, bribes are definitely on the cards, it's the only way to do business. Misngth
See, how quick is this?

Whoa.. Eek ...surprise surprise, the walls are up
[Image: 100_2561.jpg]

Must be those tilt up walls
[Image: 100_2560.jpg]
[/size]
'cause I have never seen anyone working here....... The walls just appeared
Makes it tough for the window framers and glaziers
[Image: 100_2562.jpg]

I think those crazy workaholic Kramers are coming back, and it looks like they are going to build the windows and doors right about now, be back soon with photos.

I think a roof is happening.

Yep slowly but surely
[Image: 100_2572.jpg]

.... The speed of it all... Thumbsup
[Image: 100_2575.jpg]

Ahh Huh.. more roof
[Image: 100_2578.jpg]

And now some trim and skylights
[Image: img_0105.jpg]

It's like drawing teeth ...... maybe their Boss[Image: shane_yell.gif] is not here to supervise
That seems to be all for now Folks, The Boys have the rest of the week off to recover from their couple of days work.
Jack 219
Looks great Jack! How soon before we can go fishing? 219
