Wayne, that looks like a very well kept ride. Hope you enjoyed it. How about a travelog if you ever get time.

Wow, that view out the Dome Car is something else! I'm gonna have to make an effort to get a ride in one of those things one of these days!

Is that dome car one if the EX-UP cars. The staircase up to the dome is very similar to the ones that I have seen on the old UP cars. Were the handrails lit on the stairs? that's a dead give away.
The Delaware and Lackawanna has picked up it's train that was dropped of by NS at Slateford junction, near Portland PA and will be heading west on the Pocono main. Six unit, all Alco lash ups like this are a common sight here.

Steve, I love those ALCo's. Wayne and I are going to make it that way to see them so if you are available we could sure use a tour guide so we can experience the sound of these gals working. Of course the temperature will be at least 60 degrees warmer when we do it.

Steve, the handrails appeared to be made of Plexiglass, but I don't recall them being lit...mind you, there's lots that I don't recall.
The car is ex-CPR Tweedsmuir Park, built by Budd in 1954 for the "Canadian", at that time CP's newest cross-Canada passenger train.

that car is available to you with, I think, only 2 changes of train. And a choice of two directions to go.
Probably the oldest cars in regular inter-city service in North America today (note how I carefully excluded the narrow gauge), they are undergoing a second rebuilding which is making more significant changes than the last one.

Charlie or Doc, just PM me when you gents want to come down. I'll talk to some of the guys at the DL and find out when they will be running. That particular train normally runs Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons in this area, and CP on the weekends via the D&H line through Scranton. All of this is up in the air right now as NS will be purchasing the old D&H trackage, traffic flow here may change by the summer. But the Delaware Lackawanna loves it's Alcos and has no intentions for putting them out to pasture. By the end of the summer the FA-2 should be running, and if not, I can still give you a tour of it and the F-3's as long as they are up in Steamtown and not on the Dl's property.

Tail end of a Grain Express run from the Grand Rapids Eastern yard to King Milling in Lowell MI.The car on the left is a brand new PS-2 4750 covered hopper for the KOKOMO Grain co. in Kokomo, IND. If this looks like something you might be interested in The Train Exchange in Kokomo.Ind is making them from the new Accurail car.
