Another abandonned bridge, crossing the Grand River at Cayuga, Ont. Originally Great Western, then later Grand Trunk, and, before the end, CNR and Wabash:

TN - where is that? What railroad? How old?
Looks like an old wooden trestle that has been abandoned a very long time.
Keeping with the bridge theme here's a shot I took at Chippewa Creek while rail-fanning with my good friend Doctor Wayne

Kevin, good questions... I had to look it up. Since I'm new to this area, I don't know much about the rail history here. After I dropped my boys off at school this morning, I went exploring and just happened on these bridges.
It seems, courtesy of abandoned rails.com, "This abandoned railway line was part of the 5th Subdivision of the Monon that ran south from McDoel Yard in Bloomington, IN, to Louisville, KY, just south of the Indiana state line. The Monon connected with the Illinois Central in Bloomington, and with the Milwaukee Road in Bedford."
The article goes on to say that the line had several small spurs built to service some of the quarries in the area. The line between Bloomington and Bedford was abandoned in 1993. The section through Bloomington has been converted from "rails to trails" and I plan on riding it by bicycle in the near future.
The bridges in the pictures were taken just south of Bloomington, about 3 miles out.
Nothing new this week but here's an older photo.
Getting ready to unpin the carfloat at Dock Street.

Just for fun...took a couple of high speed pics of the LRC to make signs for the layout:

Gidday Gus, it’s scratchbuilt, but
not by me. I looked to see if I had a better photograph but I haven’t. If you can stand the Bear waffling on and on, there is a decent look at the trestle about the 6.30 minute mark on this older video. Enjoy.
