A few shots from what's left of the former LNE Lehigh Gap Bridge. That's what was there until the late 60's, now there is a nature trail that takes you right to the eastern side of where the bridge connected with the mountain.

In the center of this shot you can see the concrete pillars of the west side of where the bridge crossed the Leigh river. There is a trail that leads to that side of the bridge, so I will have to check that out soon.

Here's a view of the river of either side of the river. The only one Pillar is still standing on this side of the bridge.

The path on this side of the river is the former Delaware and Hudson ROW. In the trees next to it, is the toe path for the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Canal. On the far side of the river Is former CNJ trackage now operated by NS.

Canadian National Railway's E10A Mogul #81 has been preserved in Palmerston Ontario.Even though she will never run again,she sure looks nice.

In March of 1979 while looking at the 611 in the Roanoke Museum, I made a remark about how it would be nice to see that one run. A knowledgeable acquaintance told me it would never happen, something to do with the N&W having a wider gauge on their curves to run it....NEVER say Never.

Steve, its exciting to see this engine down here! I wasn't aware they were using the Dual Modes here in southern New Jersey (I assume this is an Atlantic City Line train). I might have to hang around the tracks to spot one in action.


That said, it does not appear to be running with it's pantograph up. Was it running in Diesel mode? I'm surprised it didn't make the switch once it reached the wires.

Ah, you beat me too it! I am looking forward to seeing this engine. I'll bet anything that this engine will show up for the URHS open house next year! Even if not, Oak Island isn't terribly far. I might get lucky during one of my trips up that way.
