A leased MP15AC is doing the switching for the Dock Street RR. Caught them pulling a car from City Supply.

CNR T4A #4300 is one of Leetown's regular "big power" locomotives. She can be found on many assignments over the Leetown Division including hauling heavily laden hopper cars from the Bowyer Mines GERN facility as well as helper service on the Stoney Creek hill. Here she resting between jobs in the industrial section of Leetown

We used to have a lot more participation when there were only around 700 - 800 members, so as Ed said "what happened".

I suppose for me personally, I haven't had time to really accomplish much. I actually did build an entire city this summer for my local club, but It started to turn into more of a chore than fun, and so I often neglected to take photos.

I lurk but I really don't have much to contribute anymore. Its a tad depressing, because alot of things I was excited about are now collecting dust, and I feel like I'm slowly succumbing to that need for instant gratification by just picking up RTR models lately. All my relatively "exotic" commuter cars are in limbo. I have a few diesel projects with some progress, I suppose I could post them, but nothing exciting, and I don't know when I'll get back to them.

I assume that is the reason why many of us have stopped posting photos. They had or are working on "nothing exiting" worth to be shown to the public.

I would like to object because it is the "usual" and the "normal" that makes at least 95% of our models and layouts and it is very well worth to be shown to others. It is very inspiring to see how others combine their RTR engines and cars on their layouts. How to you combine the "usual" Cornerstone kits? How did you kit bash some very well known DPM kits or how did you paint them? How did you get the space for a gas station or a fast food restaurant while the prototypes use a lot of space?

Please show your ordinary things to ordinary people like me.
Bruce posted yesterday a photo of a NS GP38-2 in old CR blue used in NJ Conrail shared asset service. That triggered a decal session at my side of the big pond Smile

Every once in while, I think about making a few of these. In particular, I remember NS 3026 was one of the very last Conrail blue locomotives, and it was running in my town for those very last runs. I used to see these more often, but everything is NS now. I don't even see that much CSX, even though this is CSAO territory.

Just picked up the book on CSAO from Morning sun, unfortunately they don't get as deeply into South Jersey as I'd like. The book is definitely focused on the North Jersey terminals, which I suppose is fair.

I received the book as a Christmas present. Though I did enjoy the book I felt that they could have done a better representation of some of the other South Jersey areas as there was only one photo from the Vineland Secondary, which includes the cities of Vineland and Millville and nothing on the Pemberton and Burlington branches.

I put the book on order. It will take some weeks (month?) until it arrives.
Railfan Deport https://railfandepot.com has the track charts of north and south Jersey of CSAO for download. That was a faster method to get information. Some information is still available from http://centralnjfan.railfan.net . But the side is dormant since many years.

The best place for charts and data, especially Conrail information, is probably still Multimodalways.org. Plenty of other railroads are well represented.

Here is the Conrail page: http://multimodalways.org/archives/rrs/CR/CR.html

The very first few links under the Employee Timetable link are relatively recent CSAO ETTs.

Yeah, I was most excited about maybe seeing my local area in the book. In both the Penn Central in Color Volume 2, and Trackside around the Delaware Valley 1960-1983, there are TONS of pictures on the Pemberton line, mostly between Moorestown and Mount Holly. While I loved it, even I figured this line was a tad obscure for the attention it got, but they had good photos.

I figured I'd see the same in the CSAO book, but I guess not.

Speaking of the Pemberton Branch, they are building a new runaround track, this time between the 541 Bypass west to Hainesport-Lumberton Road. It will be interesting to see when its finished, and this area is within walking distance of my house on a good day, so maybe I'll catch the train more frequently.

Ah, In my case though, I truly have nothing much to offer that I haven't already posted. I do have a few new engines I got, and I suppose I should photograph them, but for the most part, nothing has moved forward. I've been locked down by one issue or another. Even ordinary things are not occurring on my railroad. Indeed, I recently found my catenary poles catastrophically damaged for no reason I can figure, other than someone goofing off near the layout. I recognize that catenary is delicate, but the big poles are much harder to break.

Anyway, I don't remember if I posted any pictures, but this was the pain in my butt city that took up most of my summer. My girlfriend and I built about half the structures, mostly the previous summer.

This time around, we built a few more to fill things in, and installed styrene roads and sidewalks. I also made use of the Walthers plug in Street Lights, though the sidewalk material was PAINFUL to drill through (used Custom Model Railroads' sidewalks since it matched existing pieces we had).

I still need to kitbash a building to conceal the giant streetlight towards the right, and to take up the background on the right hand city block. Some of the sidewalks are weathered, but I'd like to do a little more the next chance I get. Clearly, these streets will need people as well!

Unfortunately, when marking the building locations (I built this all at home, away from its final location at our club), I messed up the location of the main station, since the concourse stayed at the club. I will have to fill in the sidewalk on this side, and cut away sidewalk on the other. Still, this is easy to do with styrene, it just slices off. Nothing is set in stone, I used Scenic cement to make things removable just in case.

A closer look at a better angle.
