She started out as the Ideal models, carved balsa/die cut balsa sheet, kit of the Revenue Cutter "Alexander Hamilton", that I built in my mid teens. Not the best, she became my "test bench" for rigging techniques, and was modified over the years to the brigantine rig she now is ( partial inspiration for that came from the Brigantine "Yankee" photo in the December 1959 National Geographic ). Since I took this recent photo, I have modified her main cabin to about half its length ( which was already a modification...attached with Ambriod glue ), and added a skylight between the cabin and the main mast. Somewhere back in time, I removed the "below-the-waterline" part of the hull, which lead to her being incorporated into the new module "seaport". ( never throw anything away ) Re: Odd Bridge 1:87 scale - Drew - 06-15-2010 Man that sure is nice work Pete! Re: Odd Bridge 1:87 scale - Sumpter250 - 09-26-2010 As mentioned in the "New Module" thread, two of the three bridges are built and painted awaiting the wood decks. The third hasn't been started yet, and I'm glad I waited to do a tutorial......the second build didn't go as I had thought it would...fought me all the way, but at least I learned something from the fight. I'll have to insure that the camera batteries are fully charged before I start the third bridge, so I can do a reasonably decent job with the tutorial. Re: Odd Bridge 1:87 scale - Gary S - 09-26-2010 Pete, somehow I missed the ship. WOW WOW! :o That is awesome! |
