Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 05-21-2014 Not a lot of action today but some interesting sightings nonetheless including a surprise visitor in the grass. ![]() As much as I don't like snakes, this Gartner snake is harmless and was probably more frightened of me as it slithered off quickly A first time sighting occured at Baview as a trio of CN's newest ES44AC's were the power on eastbound train 382 including a very rare mid-train helper---these locomotives are commonly seen in western Canada so it was a real treat to see them in my hometown ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 06-01-2014 Bayview is a beautiful spot to watch trains, even when the action is slow ![]() But it's even better when a train rolls through ![]()
Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - jwb - 06-01-2014 Well, garter snakes are harmless to people. Not so much to slugs, earthworms, leeches, lizards, bugs, etc. I always like to meet various creatures while railfanning, as long as they're harmless to me. On the other hand, there are rattlesnakes on Cajon Pass. Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 07-12-2014 It's been a while since I've had a chance to do some local railfanning so I was happy that the action at Bayview was pretty good today---here's a few shots taken this morning ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 07-25-2014 Ed, are they extending the Go train out your way? Too bad all the good looking locomotives are gone, well, time marches on. That's why we model. &0 years from now the newbies will be looking back at the old engines of today. Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 07-25-2014 Hi Charlie---the newly elected Ontario Liberal Party has committed billions of dollars to improve the provincial transportation network---GO service is part of the plan (along with inter-city LRT's) so expansion of service east of Hamilton to Niagara Falls/Fort Erie and all points in-between looks like a reality. As well, all day GO service in Hamilton appears to be another development which is why a second GO station is currently being constructed. As with all government initiatives,we'll wait and see how things develop .
