RE: The New PistonBroke Line - OBJack - 03-07-2023 Now for a commercial break, .....I decided to develop this peninsular which has been used as a soldering station and workbench while the wiring was being done. with this.
I have been putting this build off because I don't think I have the expertise to do it justice.
But I am running out of kits and this one was always going to live here, so I am biting the bullet.
A few Pics to show what confronts us at the start
Distressed siding and nail holes completed on building one.
Not sure about the nails as they would be hard to see normally, but looks ok for effect
Sorry about the picture quality, they look a bit out of focus to me. ?
More as time permits.
Jack ![]() RE: The New PistonBroke Line - tompm - 03-07-2023 Interesting looking kit. Curious to see how it works out. Good luck with it. RE: The New PistonBroke Line - Charlie B - 03-07-2023 It is good to see you back at it Jack Now the fun begins. Charlie RE: The New PistonBroke Line - OBJack - 03-09-2023 Continuation of Computer running, learning by rote. Just like your times tables. Revision
New.....
Now a commercial break back to the abattoir
I decided to glaze the windows with this as there a many small windows, and only one large sheet of poly was included, I didn't like my chances of cutting and gluing effectively. This method doesn't always leave a clear glaze but I figured an old abattoir wasn't going to have very clean windows Walls are up and windows in Front
and back

RE: The New PistonBroke Line - OBJack - 08-18-2023 Hello again, I have been meaning to post the progress for a while but, ..... Update on The Abattoir build, photos as usual 'cause its easier Cutting the roofing sheets was next on the list for the builders.
Then the deck Posts, bearers & Joists Oh yes, no wind on Monday so the roofers got the roof Sheets on Then the decking
It's just a pity that someone couldn't read the plans because the platform was meant to be further to the right
The deck has been rectified now, and a few animals have gone to a happier place to try out the facilities
The building is now on it's baseboard and the yards have been completed, with a little bit of ground cover starting to appear
Another couple of buildings to finish the Scene, which were not documented, so I will post finishing pics of the completed project next time.

RE: The New PistonBroke Line - TMo - 08-18-2023 Love the hanging meat, Jack! Makes me want a fat juicy steak! The weathered look is FABULOUS! RE: The New PistonBroke Line - Charlie B - 08-18-2023 Hey OBJack. So good to see you are making progress. Your buildings are a real inspiration. I am waiting to see some more pictures of the layout too. A true work of art. Charlie RE: The New PistonBroke Line - OBJack - 08-20-2023 a bit pushed for time so a few pics to keep things moving. The scene is complete now and with few progress pics I'll just show what I have in some order. Ok.... The yards
The holding yards out the back Along the line
Yards are now useable and stocked
The shops.... Notice the attempt at cement render on the butchers shop,
from the Western end of the development.
A couple of drone shots and the overall scene here.
And here is the Finished island
Shops, Abattoir and Manager's House.
Photos didn't come out very clearly, but you get the picture (warts and all) I guess..
JackRE: The New PistonBroke Line - tompm - 08-21-2023 This is just down right awesome. Great job! RE: The New PistonBroke Line - Amalynn - 11-04-2023 This is amazing! RE: The New PistonBroke Line - Charlie B - 11-04-2023 OMG Peter. My apologies. I missed the post. I don't get email alerts anymore and I do try to check for new posts at least once a day but this one got by. Your work is beyond great, the detailing blows my mind. Please post more often. ![]() Have you completed the house? I need pictures because I will never see your place in person but I can admire it from afar. Once again I am very sorry I didn't see this. Thanks Amalynn for bringing it to the top for all to see. Charlie RE: The New PistonBroke Line - OBJack - 09-01-2024 Golly, I didn't think it has been this long since I was here, my apologies to Charlie and everyone. Just a quick few Pics then, of our finished house. We wanted something a bit different and we were lucky enough to have a nice bit of land to try out our "imaginings" Thought was for all rooms to have the view. Hence long house, with only two corners. Overview Late Design Impression Finished Interior Design (Nearly) Northwest End. Corten Steel below Full Frontal. Deck View 1 Deck & B-B-Q Mrs Jack's Hobby Room Deck along the length (for easy window washing) Backside & entry Bifold doors open And outdoor screens up And just to finish, the house is heated with a great American product called "Warmboard". We Imported from USA and were the first in Australia to install onto timber bearers, and possibly only the second install in Australia. The blog of the house build is on a webpage here, as they asked for a commentary of the build. Enough of the house, but as you can imagine a million photos were taken, and I still love living here. Jack is back (for now)
RE: The New PistonBroke Line - TMo - 09-01-2024 Great house and location, Jack! Very bold and befitting of the artist within you. RE: The New PistonBroke Line - Charlie B - 09-01-2024 Hello Jack It has been a while and the house is great. I have to go to the blog and study the build. These pictures are great too. Have you had time to work on the layout? I am anxious to read more about that too. I am going to send a link to my friend that lives in Sydney. She will love your place. She is one of my Dog owner friends.. I just can't say enough good about your interesting land ship. It really overwhelms our 3 room shack for sure. Charlie RE: The New PistonBroke Line - OBJack - 09-02-2024 Thanks Todd, I don't like boring, but I am not a risk taker. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity I guess, so why not. And it was fun to build!! Great to see you Charlie, s'pose you are still fighting fit, and I see you are still perfecting that great layout of yours. It just gets better. It doesn't matter how big, or new a house is, home is always where the heart is. We lived in, and bought up 4 girls, in a 2 bedroom asbestos house that was built with left over building materials that the shed builders built for us when they finished building our first shearing shed on the farm in 1965. No waterproofing under the floor before the cement went down, so any carpets we put down lasted about 4 yrs before going mouldy. And yes, 35 yrs of Great memories. As an aside the designer who helped draw the design is from Sydney. Jack
