Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 10-10-2011 Wow, looks like the Luck of the Ed was with you today. Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - ngauger - 10-10-2011 The green one's neat looking! All the pics are great!! Thanks for sharing!!!! Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 10-10-2011 Hi ED, I do have a question. How far to the East of Toronto have they extended the Go line? There was some talk years ago about expanding service but I haven't heard anything because I've been out of the loop for so long. Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 10-10-2011 Hello Charlie and Mikey---thanks for your feedback.Charlie,as far as I know, eastery Go rail service ends at Oshawa and in the other direction, rail service ends at Hamilton but there is Go bus service as far as Niagara Falls.During the recent Provincial election, there were some commitments to expand GO rail service to to include all day service in Hamilton with easterly rail expansion (possibly to Niagara Falls) as well---we'll see Here's another shot of Go's motive power---being a steam fan,I'm finding it hard to appreciate their looks. It was unusual to see this train at this location (Stuart St.) today as they are more likely to be found on the early morning commuter trains which leave from the downtown Go station on Hunter St. Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 10-12-2011 Hello again---while railfanning this past Monday I spotted a variety of passenger equipment which included the most modern as well as some older reconditioned cars in the Via fleet Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Steamtrains - 10-12-2011 Terrific pics..!!! You've got more RR traffic there than we have auto traffic down here....Lucky dog...!!! Are there any plans to electrify some of those lines..?? Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 10-12-2011 Thanks Gus---I think I lucked out on Monday with all the extra passenger service due to the statuatory holiday (Thanksgiving Monday). There is currently a study on electrification being done---you can go to the "gotransit.com" web-site and look for "estudy",there's lots of information---if and when it becomes a reality, who knows with all the political implications I had some errands to run today and I brought my camera just in case. There is a local train spot known as the "cowpath" but it is a little difficult for railfanning due to limited parking in the area so I usually by-pass this spot.I spotted this train leaving the Hamilton yard so I thought I'd take a chance to see if I could get some pictures---I'm glad I did, here's some of the action Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 11-03-2011 Hello Everyone--- some shots taken at Kinnear Yard today---hope you enjoy Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Steamtrains - 11-03-2011 Those pictures of #'s 9812 and 8838 just seem to say..."BIG POWER".... Thanks for posting... Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 11-16-2011 Hello Everyone---not much happening at Kinnear Yard today---unless you like older Geeps Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 11-16-2011 Hi Ed, Those old Geeps just keep hanging in there. Still work pretty good for 54 year old seniors, of course they probably have had a transplant or two. Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 11-16-2011 Hello again---just goes to show there is life after 50 Here's a shot from the 80's when those Geeps were the mainline locomotives Here's a couple of CN Geeps and a caboose---I'll bet you won't see this combination today.Lead locomotive 4264 still has a high hood Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 11-23-2011 Hello Everyone---what a great day today, sunny and 9 degrees celsius (50 F)---I just had to grab my camera and do some railfanning Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 11-23-2011 And it looks like you had a great day at it. Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 11-28-2011 Another day, another adventure |
