Re: new project - Bob C - 05-29-2011 All is coming together nicely...I particularly like the "transformer rack'...a vignette often forgotten or tossed-in by someone (like ME), less observant of the importance of these details to the overall scene. Very well done, and awaiting more, thanks. Bob C. Re: new project - Gary S - 05-29-2011 Woah! This is really taking shape and looking real good, e-paw. Very impressive. I just can't get over how good it looks. I can just see a bunch of steam engines parked all over the place, getting coaled, watered, sanded, and ready for the next run. Re: new project - mountaingoatgreg - 05-29-2011 Hey that is looking nice....now get the shovel out and clea n up your mess Re: new project - Steamtrains - 05-29-2011 That's some engine facilities....It's gonna be a busy place once operations are in full swing...!! Re: new project - jglfan - 06-01-2011 Hey, that's looking great! Love that last photo. Bridge is damn impressive! all very cool. Re: new project - cn nutbar - 06-01-2011 Beautiful---looking forward to lots of pictures of "action at the roundhouse" Re: new project - SP1 - 06-02-2011 Wow , very nice! I especially like the transformer rack. Can we have a bigger photo, showing more details, please ? Re: new project - MasonJar - 06-02-2011 cn nutbar Wrote:Beautiful---looking forward to lots of pictures of "action at the roundhouse" Very nice work! You've definitely captured it, and the late-night landscapers are really pulling it all together. Looking forward to more photos...! Andrew new project - e-paw - 06-02-2011 Thanks everyone. SP1 just check closer to the beginning of this thread and you'll see the build with lots of pics of the X-former rack. I got to do a little more detail work the the roundhouse aria. First I want to show an over view of the facility to give a feel for the site. With all the moving around I damaged some of the upper windows of the main round house, maybe that will be the excuse that I need to finish them up. You can see I am placing a few more utility poles around the turntable and I decided to relocate the Sand/water bridge to the other side of the Coal dock. I also finished up the details on the unloading ramp for the sand house. Drop bottom Gons unload sand into the pit where an auger carries it into the sand house where it is screened and dried. From there compressed air carries it, via underground lines, to the bridge for loading into locomotives. new project - e-paw - 06-02-2011 lastly for today I felt some spilled coal was in order under the coal dock. It's a mix of Anthracite " blue and uncolored " and soft "bituminous" coal. Re: new project - Schraddel - 06-03-2011 e-paw! Those little and tiny spillings looks great and add much realism to the layout. Lutz new project - e-paw - 06-18-2011 Planted some more trees on the hillside in Easton Pennsylvania. The empty space on the left will be filled in with a rock face. I did add a rock seam in the hill, This feature is very common in my neck of the woods. The last view shows the gap where the CNJ branch squeezes between the mountains to join in with the SH&D at their large Yard in Allentown. Re: new project - ngauger - 06-18-2011 Scenery looks great!! Rocks are a nice touch!! Re: new project - Gary S - 06-19-2011 The rock debris around the service tracks is a wonderful touch. Very very nice. Too often we make our layouts pristine, perfect ballast, perfect ground cover, etc. It sure makes a big difference when you throw in the little extras that break the monotony. Excellent work being done in this thread! Re: new project - Ralph - 06-19-2011 Great looking scenery! I especially like the last photo in "the gap". Even with the bare surfaces and unballaseted track in the foreground those hills look real! Ralph |
