We welcome any members to visit us, Be Sure To Introduce Yourselves!!!!! The first layout I have visited is Bob Shaw's G scale in NJ..... and here are the pics!!!! Re: RR Open houses - ngauger - 10-16-2011 Nice engine.... Customized building names Cabins and the house being built. Nothing "funny" going on here - it was windy So the 2 decided to fall over.... Freight trains all stalled because of high winds, they kept falling off the tracks Trolley made it!! All Aboard!!! Gas Pump Man - Must have gotten too much fumes Person getting tossed out of the local saloon Re: RR Open houses - Lester Perry - 10-17-2011 Very impressive........... layout? Is that what you call a garden RR? Re: RR Open houses - Gary S - 10-17-2011 It is also tour season in Houston. The schedule is at http://sanjac.leoslair.com/styled-5/ My layout will be on the tour November 5th and 6th. I've been doing alot of work in the layout room over the past couple of months, trying to accomplish as much as possible. That's the main reason I haven't been on Big blue much. No computer out there.... yet. Re: RR Open houses - Sumpter250 - 10-17-2011 ngauger Wrote:Nothing "funny" going on here - it was windy So the 2 decided to fall over....Just for the record.....in a garden railway ( aka "outdoor" ) a 5 mph breeze ( gentle, pleasant, not a problem ? ) is a scale 101 MPH gale in "G" ....I guess all the water in the pool was blown away by that wind !!!! Re: RR Open houses - ngauger - 10-17-2011 Well that day - the winds were gusting to 40 mph. It was creating havok an the railway. Plus, the owner has trees all around the yard, dropping leaves and acons (miniature scale metorites??) on the trains and people too... Wish I lived closer - I've really enjoyed visiting the tour layouts. I'm starting to get busier with my layout getting ready. Re: RR Open houses - Lester Perry - 10-17-2011 Gary, is it a yearly tour? How many participants and how long has it been going? Re: RR Open houses - Lester Perry - 10-30-2011 I made it to one open house today. It was in Smyrna De. This has been in operation since I believe he said 03. All of the power is battery. I was very impressed. Re: RR Open houses - ngauger - 10-31-2011 Nice!! That's one I haven't seen before Some great shots too!! Re: RR Open houses - rtraincollector - 10-31-2011 n guager also where you said it was windy and the couple fell over it looks like a couple of gals got there suits blow off also Re: RR Open houses - Green_Elite_Cab - 11-01-2011 I'm going to have to try and get to some of these layouts this year. I hear Bill Kachel has a very nice electrified layout, and i'm pretty sure I have a very old, very tattered print out of how to build catenary by Mr. Kachel! It will be nice to visit in person. I might also have to raid a few other layouts in the region! Re: RR Open houses - ngauger - 11-01-2011 Well - If you head to PA, You're more than welcome here!!! and we only make you pay to come in.. Your trip home is free!!! Re: RR Open houses - Lester Perry - 11-01-2011 Why not take a Saturday and make a day of it. I haven't done that for several years but I might do it this year. As Mikey said toll is only one way. Re: RR Open houses - Lester Perry - 11-07-2011 Well I only went to two this past weekend. They were on Friday night. My grandson was with me and decided he should take all of the pictures. I managed to take a few. Saturday and Sunday I planned on going but life got in the way. Any way first was an HO layout. Next is an O gauge layout Oh I almost forgot, it is 2 rail O gauge Well I could post more but I don't want it to get boring. I plan to post some more next week. Not to bad for a 6 year old. |
