Well I managed to win one of these off US Ebay last night for around about $40

Will wait for it to be shipped and see what needs to be done other than removing the Everywhere West and Burlington route factory decals. Atleast new horns and spark arrestors will need adding.

Dave, how much is shipping from US to UK? One or two engines to Germany are about $30 - $40. That prohibits all stuff under $100 and I do usual buy at least two engines at a time etc. to have a better price-shipping cost ratio.

Yes unfortunately shipping is very similar to the UK, I had bid on 3 locos from the same seller but only came away with the one, ( although it was the one I needed most, as I wasn't sure I really wanted to do the lining that the CB&Q style livery requires on a resprayed loco ).
On the other hand though I know of 2 hobby stores in the UK that sell P2K SW9s one quoted £120 and the other had them on offer at £80 (£120 = $191, £80 = $128). The total for this sale including the shipping is costing $70. Worth it just about! Plus none of the UK suppliers would stock a CB&Q version.

It is probably not confusing to the engineers at all. Most Engineers don't know what version a locomotive is that they run unless they are railfans or modelers. On a short line with just a couple of locomotives, they probably know them by their numbers, so the locomotives would be #1 & #2 or whatever number was assigned by the company. On a class one, the engineers know them by their class numbers, say a 3500 class or a 4500 class, etc.
