NS coal train 506/507 at Carneys Point, NJ, 8/17/16.  The Chamber Works Co Generating plant has been shut down and coal trains are a thing of the past in South Jersey.

Did there used to be a 3rd set of tracks in the middle there, Charlie?

Yes there was a third track, probably removed in the mid fifties. The 1950 track chart still shows it . The location is between MP 66 and 67, West of the Grafton yard that was out of service. There were also pans in the stretch of track by Grafton yards,

8/29/1977. Helpers were a common occurrence in our area with grades in both directions between Alliance, Ohio and Beaver Falls, Pa.  I saw them many times while trin watching in East Palestine, Ohio. These are running light, heading west. They may tie on to an eastbound at Leetonia.
