Been busy over the past month or so with a couple other projects. I've taken my fiances dad's engine which is a older Bachmann engine and been slowly upgrading it to what 3091 would have looked like. When i was doing research on the engine, I was shocked to find out that this GP40 was the first engine to be painted in Conrail Blue. I was going to change the number but since this engine means so much to my fiance, I decided to keep the number on the engine the same. Over the past month, I have been changing a lot on the engine, took out the short nose headlight, rebuilt the rear steps ( as you can see previously in this thread ), added numbers on the number boards, painted the handrails, the last step has the white stripe painted on it. The next step is the paint the rest of the handrails Conrail blue but I need to get the correct color of blue order and I have found it, just need to order it.
The next project that is also on the workbench is a locomotive frame that is now a donor frame for a future MT-4 Slug. I have been doing a lot of research on the MT-4 slugs and even gotten the book Conrail 1986-1991. I ordered that book after watching Dave Abeles and he mentioned the book. This book has been really useful with all the research I've been doing. This project will be my biggest scratch building project and is going to test my ability from start to finish.
GP40 #3091 nearing completion
The start of MT-4 Slug
The first step in the process. Making sure these are the right size and length. Next is to work on the box underneath that replaced the fuel tank.
