"Magoun pier" The beginings of my layout

TMo, thanks very much for your kind words!
I have also finished off the final detailing of this scene, by adding the working street lamps and wires to the utility poles.
Also the weeds and figures to the scene.
Here are a few photos showing those things.

Greg, your detailing really makes your scenes stand out.  As always, great modeling and photography.

Awesome! What did you use for the wire?

Bruce & TMo, thanks very much guys for your kind words!
TMo, I just used the brown thread that comes in this kit for the wires.

Who makes the kit and where did you procure it?  My upcoming work on the foreground for White Haven is tailor made for some electrical service...

I did run into these on a web search and the prices seem very reasonable: https://www.sierrascalemodels.com/lines.htm

Hey TMo, the kit that included my utility poles was from "Fine Scale Miniatures" they are now out of Business.
That stuff from "Sierra Scale Models" looks very similar to what came with my FSM's kit.
So I would go with them, if your really interested in building your own utility poles on your layout.

Thanks for the advice! I took a look around for "Fine Scale Minitures" on ebay - no luck on the poles and wires kit, but there were a lot of other nice kits in there that were up for rather large sums. Looks like I'll be buying the Sierra kit soon.

I was on the tour today for the first time since Covid.
The pictures in this thread are beautiful for close ups, but to see the entire layout as it stands ...

Hi David, it was really nice to have you as a visitor to my layout yesterday!
Thanks so much for taking the time to come and visit my layout and with me.
I'm glad you enjoyed my viewing Magoun pier display in it's entirety.

Hi everyone, well I have some good news to share, my Magoun pier is finally getting a room of it's own to grow into.
This will now be the start of a full layout that I have waited a very long time for.
It's not going to be a huge layout 11'.6" x 13'.6" so it will be an around the walls layout.
I will need a lift up or out section for the door into the room, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
My Magoun pier will be used as a peninsula coming out into the center of the room.
So I have begun by painting the whole room a sky blue colour first.
This is how my new layout room looks.

I will now use this thread to post my progress as I build it.
Next step will be building some benchwork around the walls.
I hope you will join me on this journey!

Embarking on the journey! Awesome news, Greg and we'll be happy to watch the progress.

What's the anticipated layout height? Mine's at eye level which opens up a lot of potential for the space underneath, and allows for a little more comfortable duckunder height....

Hi TMo, my Magoun pier module is 51.6' inches from the top of rails to the floor.
I now have the option of lowering that height or raising that as needed.
Although I don't think I'm going to go higher than my current height, because I want to have a city scene with taller buildings behind the pier scene.
