I managed to cut the grass in my back yard today and it was still too wet to do the front. The front is a little over a half an acre and only takes bout 45 minutes. Tomorrows rain is supposed to hold off until after noon so maybe I can beat the rain.
I worked on putting a decoder in a brass RT624. I got the speaker in place and a can motor installed and new drive shafts made and installed and bench tested. The only difference between the front and rear that is readily noticeable is what looks like conduit and a switch box on the front end There are supposed to be a difference in cab windows too.
It looks like there will be plenty of room for the decoder and a current keeper. I will put a few details and photos on my layout thread when I get time tomorrow.
Tomorrow (now today) is Friday. The 12 years of school seemed to drag along yet the 161/2 years I have been retired have flown by.

Good evening folks
It has been a long week. It started out with medical tests, which have now led to more upcoming tests over the next couple of weeks. I am hoping one of these we actually figure out what is going on.
I started working on the City Classic West End Market, but disaster struck when several of the pieces were knocked off the bench. One of the wall pieces has been missing since then, and the kit has been shelved. I then pulled out another City Classic kit. This one is the Main Street Café. I painted the bricks thus far.
I was running Bachmann DCC Lehigh & New England 2-8-0 Consolidation. I ran it through an hour-long break-in period because I can’t remember if I did so when I purchased it. I have been building a train behind it. The locomotive is currently handling 20 cars with ease. I am debating if I should add more.
For the weekend, the wife and I are trying to find something to do. However, this week seems to have been forgotten as all the different events and shows are taking place next weekend. It looks like we might head to the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington, DE. My wife worked there about 20 years ago as part of Americore I think it was called. It is always fun for her to see how much things have changed. At some point we have those pesky weekend errands to run and laundry.
I want to work more on the Main Street Café. My plan is to operate the L&NE steamer again and bring out additional locomotives to run. I may even build some Accurail kits.

Very humid this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. 73 with 96% humidity. Got another half inch of rain yesterday and the potential for more later this afternoon. You know it's humid when your insulated mug has condensation.
Definitely quiet yesterday but today looks to be different. Laundry is already underway and the tree is out for delivery. Once it arrives I'll find out how big of a hole I will need to dig. Also figured out what to do with the sod that will be coming out. After the tree is planted I'll need to make a trip to Menards for much and some tubing to put around the trunk to fend off the deer and other woodland creatures.

Good evening everyone.
No work done today. My daughter has been looking for a newer car and today she found one she wanted to look at so I went with her, It was an hour and a half drive one way and I just sat back and watched here to see if she had been listening to what I told her. I sat with her and the salesman and I am proud to say she played hard ball and got the price down a thousand dollars. She got her car and now she is happy. The car she had was a nice car but she bought it because her boyfriend had bad hips and was unable to get in and out of the car she had. He passed away last November so she has finally moved on.
Needless to say my backdrop help is trying out the new car so maybe tomorrow. If not I plan to mow if it doesn't rain, and maybe I will finish the decoder install it the RT 624

68 with 98% humidity. Maybe the upper 70s later.
Yesterday was a bust. FedEx said they'd be here between 11 and 3 with the tree so I didn't anything else. Tree didn't arrive until 4:45 so pretty much a day wasted. This morning I'll be planting the tree and also getting the yard mowed. I'll also need to make a Menards run for plastic tubing for around the trunk and mulch for around the base. Also need to mow the yard.

Just came in out of the rain again. I got a request from Texas a few weeks ago.... "Pop pop, I want a tree house.... and it has to be pink!" They don't have any trees beside the live oak in their front yard and a pink tree house probably isn't going to sit well with the homeowner's association, so guess where the treehouse is going? Yep, my back yard, because Pop pop is the best.
I discussed tree TAPs with the bride, but her nose went up when I said there were $90 a pop. "For a bolt???? (she said)". Hence I abandoned securing directly to one of the walnuts in my back yard. Without attaching to the tree, you know where we're going here... Dug 4 holes with my post hole digger and spent $200 on concrete, non-standoff brackets and 4 4x6's. Dug 3 holes last night, and just finished the fourth before the rain came down in buckets again. I was kinda hoping I'd get my concrete poured today, but it's looking bleak. A loss to the treehouse means gaining time to work on the railroad - specifically DCC'ing the RS3.
I'm acting division chief for the week and hoping things don't turn to crap in my boss's absence. Fortunately, it is only a 4-day week.

Clear and cool in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. 66 now going to the upper 70s. Weather-wise it looks to be a very pleasant week with temperatures similar to today.
The pleasant weather is much appreciated as it won't put too much stress on the second tree I have ever planted. Got that done yesterday along with mowing the yard. Timing was good as the leaf blower battery died just as I finished cleaning the sidewalk. Just got back from Walmart. Three of the first 4 items I was looking for were not in stock. I just gave up and came home. Very rare occurrence for Walmart not to have in stock the items I need. Oh, well.
Gas was down to $3.81 when I was out and about.

Cloudy this morning. 70/81 for the day. We went to the club house on Friday eve passed through the big Woodward Dream Cruise. Saw some nice cars. No plans for today, finally got two downpours of rain yesterday. Can't remember last time it rained.
