It was painters time after the glue had set. This are four layers of highly diluted (at least 1:8) Tamiya brown/red mix as a base color. The pure paint has a color close to the dark brown GT boxcar. I think it is fundamental to use multiple layers of diluted paint and refrain from solid paint to get the special effects of the paris plaster.
