The depth of the Royal Gorge under the bridge is 1100'. The Gorge itself at that point is about 7,000' above sea level.
We're in the Rocky Mountains - we have "passes" that are over 11,000 ' in altitude. 8-)
BTW - the bridge sways in the wind as you walk over it, and the wind is almost always blowing. A lot of flatlander tourists turn green and some occasionally hurl.
