Thomas, I have "Drainagematerial dark #1399" from ASOA. That is fine like dust but to dark. I have just ordered "Drainagematerial #1398" (light). Should be shipped on Tuesday and arrive later this week.
I have two plans to use it:
a.) distribute the light dust with a sieve over fine N scale ballast.
b.) distribute the light dust with a sieve over concrete painted styrene
I will try both and post the results here. Some darker tiny stones might be added too.
* "Drainagematerial" is the finer ballast beside and under the ballast to ensure proper drainage. It is offered fine as dust by the German company named ASOA (http://www.asoa.de/index.htm) in two forms light and dark.
