I've had a somewhat similar problem with several issues of my subscription to Railroad Model Craftsman. They arrived roughly a month late, and all were postmarked Frankfurt, even though they're originally sent out of Colorado. Perhaps Frankfurt has become the Bermuda Triangle of the postal system?
Excellent work, by the way, on that locomotive. I've seen the one running at Strasburg, but can't seem to locate my photos of it. A very nicely-done restoration of an unusual locomotive.
