The building with the Ivy is one of Robin Matthysen's (matthyro) cereal board structures that I inherited when he passed away.
Yes, that is burlap, it is the stuff you put around trees, it is sold in the garden center. I chose it because it has velcro on it so I can keep the skirt together, but still open it and access all the goodies stored under the layout.
As for the trestle, I am not happy with it, it was given to me by one of the fellows in the local model RR club, it would not fit anywhere on his new layout. I will be redoing it to span the entire gap, be the proper height and have the proper opening when I finally decide where the river is going to be.
