Fotoes from onboard the UP 844 Western Heritage Tour '09

It was just there for show and tell really. At each major terminal, they had 844 on display, and being the San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland) and Earth Day, the PR Department wanted to show off the Genset and environmentally friendly initiatives. They basically just drug it around for show. They ditched it back in Roseville where they picked it up after Stockton. It went from Stockton to Roseville for 5 days then off to Oroville to get ready for the Feather River Canyon leg of the trip. Up the Canyon, we replaced the Gen-set with the UP 1983, the WP Heritage SD70ACe at Roseille. So they swapped the Genny with the '83. The 1983 was idling (when it WAS working) on the canyon trip, but not used, it was ALL 844 that trip, and when we got to Portola, we set out the 1983 and ran steam only to Winnemucca as God and Alco intended.
