Park hours are 9:00AM to 5:00PM, and admission is $6.00. You can check Steamtown for more info.
While I'm not normally a "morning person", 9:00AM is do-able.
For those who've not been there before, there is also an operating freight railroad just outside of the park gates, with, when I was there last October, lots of Alco action:
