At the example/suggestion of one of the neighbours, I checked the inputs/outputs for the furnace and the water heater. I put on my biggest boots and walked over/through the snow -- nearing a yard deep. The exhaust from the heaters seems to have melted an open area around the pipes. There was one other pipe -- 2" black plastic -- running down nearly to the ground but open. It got the snow cleared from around it but I don't know what it does. The nearest thing inside is the sump pump but it shouldn't dump onto the garden.
