Good evening folks
Another crazy 10 hour plus days at work. I don’t want to think about the temperature because I have been working outside in it. Being a construction inspector on the PA Turnpike is all fun and games until the cold weather hits. The construction workers are generally warmer than me because they are moving around constantly. Many times I am just standing there watching them shivering.
Just to add to the craziness a couple of days before Thanksgiving my car acts up on the way home from work. It was running really rough and the check engine light came on. When I got home checked the code reader and said misfiring cylinder. Same thing happened to my daughter in the spring, and she fixed her car. She gave a list of parts for the auto parts store and she dug out her tools. Thanksgiving Day after she helped me get the bird in the oven she went outside. An hour later car is fixed and running fine. She replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils.
We have been taking down the Thanksgiving decorations and putting up Christmas. Inside is about 90% done. If there is no rain or snow this weekend I will get the outside decorations done.
I have been building some rolling stock kits. I built some Bowser hoppers, Accurail reefers and covered hoppers. I recently got some Lehigh and New England wood boxcar kits off eBay. The kits were made and sold by the Old and Weary Carshop. Back in the 80’s and 90’s O&W Carshop was the main source for New York Ontario & Western kits and things. I think the New York Ontario & Western Historical Society was a partner. They also carried other roads that served Maybrook Yard in New York. Most of their rolling stock kits were Branchline kits made for them. Back then many Branchline kits were made by Roundhouse (as these boxcars were). I got all four cars in Series 15. The great thing is two of the kits are still sealed and have never been opened.
I am hoping to run some trains and build some more kits this weekend. The only issue I have is I will be working Sunday night into Monday. We are switching lanes around at the Mid County Interchange between the East-West Turnpike, the Northeast Extension, and I-476.
I hope everybody has a good evening.
