I am still feeling cold from last night. We started at 3 PM and ended around 4:30 AM. For me it was 13.5 hours. For some reason we had a lot of down time. At one point we had to wait nearly an hour for the turnpike to give us a 15 minute shutdown so we could paint the new lanes and move the delineators to direct drivers into the new pattern. We started at 40 degrees and the low was 24 degrees. The cold caused issues with the line paint drying and curing which also added to our time.

How many more are there to remove in your area??
We are removing the toll booths, toll plaza buildings and reconfiguring the interchanges. The Turnpike is using Open Road Tolling which are gantries located every so many miles along the East/West Turnpike and Northeast Extension. No tolling at the interchanges. Our project covers Mid County, Norristown (toll plaza building stays), Fort Washington, Willow Grove, Bensalem, and the slip ramps at Virginia Drive and Street Road. There is another contract covering Valley Forge to Reading/Lancaster, and 2 contracts covering all of the Northeast Extension.
We got some of the Christmas decorations for the outside. Testing the lights for the bushes tonight. I think tomorrow night will be a better night to put them out.
I built some rolling kits until I lost a part. Luckily I can order and did order a replacement from Accurail. I did not get a chance to run trains.
I hope everybody has a good evening.

Tom:
I had no idea you were responsible for all that area...
That's pretty much the area I cover when I go to Oaks.
Be careful! Frostbite is not a good thing!!

Anyway, I haven't been receiving e-mails (new post) alerts, so I'll have to check it out to see if I get e-mails from this thread.
As Tom says, the cold is nothing to joke about. The Polar Vortex is here at least 'till Tuesday to bring us our first taste of Winter. Yesterday was the first day "as cold as February 14th", according to the Weather Guessers.
My lights are up, just a lighted wreath in a window and a bit of lights around the window in the back door. Same as the past few years.
Lots of people don't put up lights because the electricity bills are a deterrent.
There are a few in the better off areas that have huge displays that blink and act to music, so that's a cool thing.
Everyone take care!!
