Shovel out continued at work today shoveling off our platform scale and tilt table, but because most of my employees were in, made relatively quick work of both despite the frigid temps (we waited for double digits on the thermometer) and mostly icepack on top of each with a thinner portion of snow. Much better than yesterday which was strictly volunteer duty shoveling out exterior doorways to plowed areas of parking lots.
Despite the efforts of county crews, schools are now closed for the entire week. I remember a time back in my youth that my school district would have been off for a day and we'd be right back to school despite slick or covered sidewalks, but I fear the risk of lawsuits scares administrators these days. We'll be below freezing through next Monday. With the type of "snow" we got, the piles in and around parking lots are quite impressive, and they'll be around for quite a while.
Fine tuning ballast on Mud Run Curve is on my agenda this evening.
