Welcome back to Jack on Tracks and another episode of the Back Shop! In this installment of the Berkshire Knitting Mill build, we're tackling one of the most challenging parts of the project: designing and installing the interior support structure for this massive industrial building.
Using Plastruct I-beams, custom gussets, Evergreen styrene, and plenty of patience, we fabricate and install a realistic interior framework that will support the warehouse structure while creating the look of a century-old textile mill. Along the way, we discuss different adhesives, scratch-building techniques, lighting plans, weathering ideas, and future detailing projects.
